In Feb. 2016, I took a friend’s recommendation to contact Jamie Troxel of RECAL Microbials. Not that my cows were during horrible but I just felt that my cows weren’t performing like they should. I am always looking for ways to make things better.

Jamie came to my farm and he simply told me what he had been seeing the RECAL do on different farms and what he and Dr. G.W. Snider have done in research. I had been experiencing low DMI, high SCC, very inconsistent manure, reproduction wasn’t the best and production was ok, but not where I felt it should have been and the cows just seemed to be missing something, they just didn’t have “that” look to them. Jamie advised me that he thought I had a mycotoxin and rumen health issue. I was already feeding a toxin binder, yeast and a microbial but they didn’t seem to be working.

Jamie made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. He would give me enough RECAL Plus SS for 30 days to try and if I didn’t like it I didn’t have to pay for it. He said he would also tell me what to watch for and what to expect the cows to do and say. Jamie is very big on “Talk to the cows, they will never lie to you”. So I thought what the heck, what do I have to lose?

Jamie got me started on the RECAL Plus SS and told me what to expect and to watch for. He also took a TMR sample and sent it into Rock River Lab to do a toxin test. It came back at 1.9 PPM vomitoxin.

I couldn’t believe it, everything Jamie told me to watch for, I saw. You could see that the cows were starting to feel better. DMI went up, manure got very consistent, cows started showing much stronger heats which lead to improved reproduction, and SCC started dropping. Since I had milk meters Jamie wanted me to watch milker on time. He explained that my slow milking cows should start to milk out faster due to improved blood circulation. I did this and my milker on time went down twenty two seconds and milk production went up three lbs. in the first week.
